Be Amazed at the First Visible Solar Eclipse Since 1979

Mark your calendars and grab your telescopes! On August 21, 2017 a 97% partial eclipse will occur in the Atlanta area, offering an amazing spectacle for all to see! This solar event will happen during the day, with the peak darkness at 2:36 pm. The first eclipse visible on US soil since 1979, this rare event is one of nature’s most awe-inspiring sights!

Be sure to check out viewing events across Atlanta at Georgia Institute of Technology, Georgia State University, and the Fernbank Science Center. For those interested in seeing the complete eclipse, travel North to the Georgia mountains, or catch a glimpse from your own backyard – just be sure not to look directly at the sun!
